We are looking for the next exceptional employee-owner to join the team representing the SJE-Rhombus® brand dedicated to serving OEM and wholesale customers supplying the water and wastewater markets as a Materials Manager at our Detroit Lakes, MN location.  



The Materials Manager is responsible for providing leadership in planning, developing and implementing strategy to create a sustainable Lean supply chain. This includes casting the vision and leading Purchasing, Receiving/Shipping and Materials Management staff towards affectively managing the supply chain requirements to meet the demand of our high velocity, just-in-time, make-to-order, Lean manufacturing environment.

Education/Work Experience:

  • 2 to 4-year degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Accounting or Engineering 
  • A minimum of 5 years in managerial experience focusing on standardizing planning & execution, reducing material flow complexity, and talent development
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications required
  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred
  • Experience with MTS and MTO manufacturing environments
  • Leadership experience in Sales and Operations Planning process
  • Experience in inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes
  • Experience with visual management systems



Skills and Abilities:

  • Strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Proven track record of implementing new, sustainable processes and systems in supply chain management
  • Strong negotiating and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to use and/or develop data analytics tools to help drive good business decisions
  • Lean process minded (5S, Kaizen, standardized work definition, use of key metrics)
  • Willingness and ability to be a hands-on contributor to the Materials Team
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Understanding and experience in international logistics preferred
  • Experience in warehousing and internal logistics
